AST Genetics project "Determining Optimal Planting Density of Dual-Purpose Industrial Hemp with Cover Crop" was selected by the USDA North Central SARE for funding in 2024. The purpose of this research trial is to provide significant insight and knowledge into best practices in industrial hemp production with respect to field preparation and planting methodology of industrial hemp for fiber and grain production. The project began in January of 2024, and will conclude at the end of 2024 with the completion of a project report and planting density recommendations for producers.
We are honored to have the privilege to serve the SARE community in this capacity.
The official SARE project can be found here.
AST Genetics will host an on farm field day on August 30, 2024 at 9am at the trial location. We will discuss the trial replanting and planting methods and observations to date. Producers will be able to view the trial plots and ask any questions they may have regarding the trial to date or industrial hemp production in general. This informal event will conclude at 11 am.
Please RSVP by emailing us at office@astgenetics.com. We will confirm receipt of your RSVP and provide the location of the field day.
We are looking forward to a great morning with great folks.
